# Does my product need BIS ISI certification?

BIS ISI certification, under Scheme-I, is a product certification licence. Where a Quality Control Order makes it mandatory, a manufacturer must hold the licence to use the ISI mark, which involves product testing and a BIS assessment of the factory. Sanmayu supports the application and preparation. BIS alone grants the licence.

The work moves in order, from checking that the scheme applies to your product, through documents and testing, to filing, queries and renewal.

1. Applicability Confirm the product, its standard and whether the scheme covers it. Output: route decision
2. Proposal Agree scope, models, laboratory and who owns which task. Output: agreed plan
3. Documents Collect the factory, model and authorisation papers. Output: complete file
4. Testing Samples are tested at a recognised laboratory against the applicable standard. Output: test report

The cost has three main components: the government fee, laboratory testing and our professional fee. We describe who charges what and show components, never a total.

**Q: Does my product need an ISI licence?**

A: Only if it falls under a Quality Control Order in the official Scheme-I list on this page. Each row names the order and the Indian Standard. Where the order is upcoming, the list shows its date. Send us your product and an expert confirms. Needs expert review

**Q: Is a test report enough, or must the factory be assessed too?**

A: ISI is a licence to the manufacturer, so BIS assesses the factory as well as testing product samples. A test report alone is not the licence. Needs expert review

**Q: Does a Quality Control Order apply to imported goods?**

A: A Quality Control Order applies to the product, so an importer is affected as well as a maker. What an importer must hold is confirmed at review against the order itself. Needs expert review

**Q: I run a factory outside India. Can I get an ISI licence?**

**Q: Does a CE mark or an ISO certificate replace ISI?**
